DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN! It's a good thing his primary customers are already dead, considering how he treats his live customers. In fact if you are unlucky enough to rent housing from him, you and your family may soon wind up as a customer at his funeral home. Perhaps that's the real reason he painted over and then refused to deal with *black mold* in a home he rents to a family with young children, two of whom have serious health problems. After consistently harassing (as in, peeking into their windows, sending *late-night* texts demanding to come over right then, ETC) he decided to tell cut off their water with NO warning. He is to pay utilities, the family has always paid their rent, this was uncalled for and illegal, especially in the middle of summer!!! The diabetic child cannot wash his hands before testing his blood glucose levels. He refuses to be reasonable and turn the water back on. Hmm, is business really that bad that you have to drum up more customers?"

The workers always seem grumpy and like they are being put-out by our family both times I have been here for funerals. They also don't seem to like having children in their parlor even when they are a major part of our family. I was not overly impressed either time our family used their services.

This was the first funeral home I had been to where I felt the funeral director was only interested in money. Small and not enough seats for everyone. He told me if I was going to stay that I needed to find a seat and sit. I informed him that there were not enough seats. He said there are 2. There were 20 of us standing. He tried to make the daughter of the deceased sit in the back. His "bed side manner" was terrible. He was rude and disrespectful. Telling everyone they needed to get to their cars after the service when they were paying their last respects. There were absolutely no one who lined up cars or even police to direct traffic going to the cemetary. He would speed up to 65 mph and many were left behind. They started the tent before everyone was there or even out of the cars. If you want a funeral home who appears to care for you, I do not recommend this Gerts Funeral Home in Brook, Indiana.

On 12/5/12, I attended Ocie Sear's funeral. I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but as I sat there during the service, I vowed I would let you know. During the service, I became very, very upset with the noise coming from the office area. Do you realize that during Ocie's funeral, your phone rang THREE times. People came in and out multiple times. People were talking loud enough that I could hear their conversations in the service. I find it EXTREMELY disrespectful to the people who are grieving their loved ones. If that's going to be happening, at least shut the double doors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On 10/18/2013 I gave a very strong negative review, As a result of the situation of not having ownership of my funeral policy I traveled from California to Indiana and staged a protest and picket in front of Owens Funeral Home, After three days Mike Owens came out and we had a 45 min conversation, We discovered we had both been deceived by a Jay Long, the trustee of a estate. Once Mr, Owens realized the truth and the facts he went to work and corrected the problem within one day, He called the insurance company and accomplished having the policy put into my name, I have been restored and made whole. THANK YOU Mike Owens
