Funeral Home Reviews
Athens, Georgia
I am so unpleased with this company just as well as the preparation of my mother. The did not prepare her at all based on the information i found out in regards to embalming, just as well as their unprofessionalism in regards to getting my mother's ashes. The receptionist, and host of others i talk too keep giving me the run around. After just having services 6/09/2012 you would think that they would show more sympathy when a family member call in regards to following up as stated with a prior call. I would not recommend this funeral home to no one. They suck.

I would like to start off my saying my beautiful and amazing loving Mother was call to heaven on Feb 01, 2015 it was a very sad day for my Family. We were very heart broken we knew she received her Angle heaven wing.We were given the name and contact telephone number of a mortuary.I called and made an appointment with Manny Villelas to talk to him about making arrangements for my mother funeral.I and my sister attended the appointment .Manny is also the owner of the two mortuary the Universal Memorial Center and South Mountain Mortuary. He was very knowledgeable and compassionate with our Family .Manny paid very close attention to every detail on our request for our mother funeral right down to her hair color. The staff was very professional and compassionate "especially" Tammy who took care of the life insurance paper work kept our family in the loop as far as the authorization. I am very ,very Impressed with the respect of there handling our special needs at this very difficult time .I told Manny that I would recommend them highly !! I will give them 10 Stars because they certainty deserve it.

My brother and I chose Desert Memorial to perform our dad's cremation since their reviews were good and their rates were low. We dealt with Kristen Anderson, and we told her to ship our dad's remains to his former Kentucky address only if they could do so prior to his memorial service. Otherwise, she was to refund the shipping charge and provide me with instructions on when and where to pick up my dad's remains. About two (2) months after my dad's memorial service, Desert Memorial finally conducted my dad's cremation and sent his remains to his former address in Kentucky, without notifying us and against our prior instructions. They only told me about this after I inquired about it. Now, they are attempting to wash their hands of the matter, forcing us to attempt to clean up their mess, so to speak. I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere, since no one wants to deal with this company's mistakes in addition to the pain of the loss of one's loved one.
